amanda's new and improved ultimate packing list

ok, so i just took mark's list and updated it.
free packing tips -
roll your clothes - it help save space
talk with your partner or with your partner and another vbs team about sharing tolietries - no real need for us to bring 16 bottles of shampoo and conditioner.

Training camp (T.C.):


  • inside my backpack
  • 2-3 junk shorts
  • 1 junk pants
  • 2-4 junk shirts
  • 1 pair junk sneakers
  • 1 pair shower shoes
  • 3-4 underwear
  • 1-2 bras
  • 1-4 socks (depending on how picky you are)
  • drama clothes
  • Bug spray
  • Suntan lotion/aka sunscreen
  • soap
  • shampoo
  • tpaste
  • deodorant
  • tbrush
  • towel
  • Medicines
  • Bible
  • AIM Journal
  • flashlight. extra batteries
  • notebook (can double as your personal journal)
  • pens/pencils (more than 1!)
  • waterbottle
  • hand sanitizer
  • tampons/pads (either here or in DR bag!)
  • swimsuit - for showers? (either here or in DR bag!)
optional, possible extras:


  • vitamins
  • contacts/solution/case
  • personal journal
  • face wash
  • cd player/ ipod

DR Bag - note: I'm not re-listing things from the T.C. bag above

  • in a squishy duffel or rolling bag
  • 1-2 pair of jeans/khakis/capris
  • 1-2 pair shorts
  • 5-10 t-shirts (depends on how much space you have and how much you want to bring.)
  • 1 church outfit
  • shoes or heavy duty sandals you can walk in
  • more socks?
  • baggie with loose, dry, laundry soap
  • mosquito net
  • mosquito coils
  • peanut butter
  • 2-3 rolls t.p.
  • toiletry bag to give away
  • tossable camera (or digital: but it is NOT necessary)
  • 50-100$ spending money
  • 25$ exit fee
  • 10$ for gifts (or gifts themselves, if you've already got them!)

Things for T.C. you'll need to fit in DR bag:


  • mattress pad (not mandatory, but nice to have)
  • sleeping bag or blanket/sheets
  • travel pillow
things I'm bringing that might be a waste of space, but could be handy:


  • raincoat or poncho
  • 1 long sleeve shirt for cold

VBS bag:

  • in a squishy duffel or rolling bag
  • supplies for your vbs craft
  • med kit, if you're bringing one
  • extra vbs supplies I might have assigned you (ask your partner, every group has some!)
  • sports supplies you might have volunteered for
  • any other cool free toys or supplies that your church comes up with - vitamins, tolietries, etc.
